We interrupt this broadcast
for a brief spaz on the subject of today's anime consumption. My anime watching outside animesoc is usually zero unless superglued to chair by rampaging fangirls or vampiric mermaid chasers, but Jenny's Dio squeeage gave me a Last Exile itch.
So: Ep 18 is indeed amusing, I like Sophia more and more, Dio has a *fantastic* screech on him and I don't like Delphine although all my instincts say I should because she hasn't said or done anything that implies intelligence yet. I don't fangirl dimwits. :-p (Anyone who makes a Tasuki joke at this point is getting beaten to death with a blunt implement)
And Kyou Kara Maou! Watched ep 1 at long, long last and (to my astonishment) spent the first ten minutes laughing my ass off at jokes which were supposed to be there. STOP PRESS! Anime tries to be funny and actually succeeds! It can't last. And, indeed, it didn't, because the second half of the ep was (as I've been told) just Fushigi Yuugi with no female characters, but even so, good start there. Quote of the day: 'Are you kidding me? Why is there a black hole down the toilet???'

Can you beat someone to death with a sharp impliment? I would have called that cutting and hacking to death.

Perhaps if you beat them with the non-sharp part of said implement? Say, the face of a piece of glass as opposed to the edge.
Of course, that would defeat the point of the exercise. And you'd cut your hands something rotten.

Sword pumles (sp?). I think archeologists found skulls that had been done in in such a way by the Romans.

Missed the first ep of Kyou Kara Maou when we showed it at ChibiCon, but got to see the second ep at aasoc. Spent the entire thing alternating between giggling hysterically and going 'ooh, pretty!' ^_^
