Bleedin' ow! I've just had a free flu jab courtesy of my unscrupulous caring employer, who doesn't want anyone off sick this winter. I stood in the queue and mentally mocked the girl behind me who was angsting about needles. Ha! I thought smugly. You wuss.
And then it bloody hurt. O.o I think the poor ickle BUPA nurse who'd been shut in a small windowless room giving the same jab for seven hours was getting a bit glazed... this, however, is no excuse for practically amputating my arm. Still, at least this reduces by one or two the spectrum of upper respiratory ailments I can catch this winter*.
*not, however, including teh 3vil b1rd flu. Why is this hard to understand??? I swear the BBC last night very nearly said that you could be vaccinated against bird flu. If the reporters don't get it how is anyone else supposed to?

You CAN be vacinated against bird flu as far as I understadn but NOT against the to be decided human/bird flu mix which will go pandemic as it doesn't exist yet!

I'm not actually sure there is an h5n1 vaccine but it could be produced RELATIVELY easily. It would also be relatively useless.
