Feast of Fools

So. Christmas, like. Thoroughly satisfactory and marked largely by a series of painfully tasteful presents for the flat (which I would be in right now if the vendor's solicitor hadn't run out of flying monkeys, goddammit)

Stuff happened. Aunt came over from Philadelphia. Brat took a few hours out from his hectic snowboarding/gliding schedule to collect his presents. Grandparents delivered cash in brown envelopes.

Had get-together with Amanda and Lizzie, hooray! where we all displayed how achingly hip and mature we are these days by making all the same stupid jokes we used to make about school, but about work instead. They're better jokes anyway now Amanda is El Hotshot Corporate Lawyer of Doom and Lizzie sells blood for a living (no, really).

And on Monday Lizzu had come back from Japan especially to see me, and incidentally say hi to her family and some of the rest of the gang. And lo, we all hung around Ivan's and watched random crap until 3am (Stealth!!! IT IS SO AWFUL AND I LOVE IT) while shouting 'Are you retarded or something? I'm the goddamn BATMAN!' every time anybody spoke. Student jokes are the best.

There were pressies and stuff too ^_^ I got Firefly on DVD and the Fool's Cap World Map!!!!! as a picture!!! *BOING* She got it blown up from a slide at the Bodleian ^_____________^ (this one)

And now I am back at work chiz chiz chiz, where all that smug time I spent just before Christmas firing emails at people who'd gone on holiday has backfired on account of they've all come back and replied. Also my driver's door lock has finally given up the ghost and it is only possible to get in the car by performing gymnastics in the passenger seat. This is a problem but fortunately it's not mine, cos Mum's car's brakes have failed so she's driving it anyway. :-p
