Dumbass New Year quizzes

No, I really am that bored. I blame the brat, who is currently ensconced in the WHOLE HOUSE EXCEPT MY ROOM with two of his eight-foot mates. I am cowering in aforesaid room and sulking vaguely. So here is a quiz.

What did you do in 2005 that you'd never done before?
Bought a flat. ^_^;;

Did you keep new year's resolutions and will you make more next year?
Half and half, i.e. I always manage the mental ones and fail the physical ones. Probably.

Did anyone close to you give birth?
Nope. Not and told me, anyway ^_^

Did anyone close to you die?
Nah.

What countries did you visit?
Does Northern Ireland count? OhgodI'msosad. Work gets in the way. Crap excuse.

What would you like to have in 2006 that you lacked in 2005?
Somewhere I actually own to obsess about.

What dates from 2005 will remain etched in your memory and why?
Dates? Er. I can't think of any at all... is that wrong?

What was your biggest achievement of the year?
I improved my Heroes of Might and Magic III playing level to somewhere between Easy and Normal, after a mere six years of playing.

What was your biggest failure this year?
I *still* haven't taken over the world.

Did you suffer illness or injury?
Not so's you'd notice...

What was the best thing you bought?
The Baroque Cycle.

Whose behaviour merited celebration?
Mark Russinovich's, for giving me weeks of evil glee.

Whose behavior made you appalled and depressed?
Those social retards who demonstrate in Oxford against the new medical animal testing facility they're building.

What did you spend most of your spare cash on?
I didn't, but it'll be furniture in a month...

What did you get really, really excited about?
Supervolcano! and the rest of the gigantic BANG! television that the BBC suddenly awarded us in about May. I heart everything where anything larger than a small town explodes. :-D

What song will always remind you of 2005?
Immediate Music - With Great Power

Compared to this time last year are you happier or sadder?
About the same, worryingly.

Thinner or fatter?
Fatter. I hate working at a desk on an island, yes I do. All the lunchtime walks in the world cannot save you from the fact that it is Canary Wharf and there is nowhere to go.

Richer or poorer?
Richer, but only until my mortgage kicks in, eheh.

What do you wish you'd done more of?
Sleeping.

What do you wish you'd done less of?
Travelling.

How will you be spending Christmas?
Too late! At home, with family, decorating Christmas table entirely in black and white. And I did.

Did you fall in love in 2005?
No more than usual.

What was your favorite TV programme?
Toss-up between Firefly and Doctor Who.

Do you hate anyone now that you didn't hate this time last year?
....can't think of anyone. Rarely waste the time.

What was the last book you read?
Jonathan Strange and Mr Norrell, huzzah.

What was your greatest musical discovery?
Immediate Music!!!!!!oneoneone

What did you want and get?
A flat (gee, is this repetitive)

What did you want and not get?
Never you mind.

What was your favorite film this year?
Blimey, I can't remember what I've seen. Serenity, methinks.

What did you do on your birthday and how old are you?
I got bawled out for no good reason by my boss, who then had a gigantic guilt trip and bought me a huge great bouquet to apologise. I actually found the subtly sexist gesture much more annoying than the telling off. And 24 - I am the granny of the group, thankyou.

What one thing would've made your year immeasurably more satisfying?
World domination.

How would you describe your personal fashion concept in 2005?
I Read A Thing In A Magazine Once That Said Women In The Office Should Wear Jackets.

What kept you sane?
Pardon?

Which celebrity/public figure did you fancy the most?
Weeell. Johnny Depp kind of blew it with the Willy Wonka thing, so it'll have to be Paul Bettany (though he blotted his copybook with those sideburns in Master and Commander, it's got to be said)

What political issue has stirred you the most?
I'm a politics hound, everything does. Blair losing the Destroy Habeas Corpus vote was the most satisfying by miles.

Who did you miss?
Kaytee!!! Also Lizzu!!! And everyone else who has buggered off to pastures new since uni/school/nursery. Bastards.

Who was the best new person you met this year?
Mike, insane American salesman with laconic line in godawful puns for every occasion.

Tell us a valuable life lesson you learned in 2005.
I really want a flat.
