My week, by me, aged 21 and a quarter.

Hum. Seems like essay crises aren't the only thing I'm out of practise at. Blogging in term time, that's another one. Oops.

So, since last blog, I completed essays, did tutes, watched Van Helsing with Becky (who I successfully managed to convince it was a deliberate parody - I shall convince the world of this yet), had first animesoc of year with the usual hordes of Freshers who will likely never turn up again, glee-ed over Gankutsuou (this I have in common with certain people), and did five services in four days over the weekend. @_@ This was a little tiring. But did get to sing the Vaughn Williams Mass in G minor, which is my favourite mass setting ever, thus making the whole weekend worthwhile.

There we go, all up to date with no content whatsoever.

I've also been doing a certain amount of *real* reading these last few days, much to my horror. I don't normally get time during term to read books that aren't course related - and to be perfectly honest I *probably* don't have time now - but I've still been doing my level best to ignore silly Classics and just faff around for a while ^_^ So, much like her, I have purchased for myself a copy of The Count of Monte Cristo so I can have smug anime vs. book knowledge as Gankutsuou progresses, and even found time to start reading it. This is something of a first. I've also been doing some odd reading in research for a fic I'm vaguely writing - yes, I know just how sad and time wasting that is. But I'm writing a reeeeeally AU (well, less AU, more other world, really, but let the label stand) GW fic, the backstory of which is going to be set at the turn of the 16th/17th centuries, and will require a certain amount of knowledge of the metaphysical poets and attitudes towards homosexuality in that period. So I've been scavenging English books from the college library, and thereby making my lending record look even more surreal than it usually does. But I was pleased to find that the book I couldn't find in Blackwells and really wanted was actually in the college library and available for borrowing. Now why does that never happen with Classics books?

Right, must get on with reading for history essay. Literature essay already done, in a rather poor sort of way, so I'm actually slightly ahead of myself for a change. Plus I'm actually finding this week's history essay quite interesting and not *too* confusing, which is a novelty for this period. I get to pour over archaeological reports for random Greek daughter cities in strange parts of India. Bonus.
