Save Manhunter. Oh, go on. Todd says 'please.'

Okay, this is an entirely pointless effort, as I don't think anyone who reads this blog is likely to want to subscribe to a comic, especially just because I say so. But on the offchance: please subscribe to DC's Manhunter. Oh, please do. It's a comic that pretty much everyone (including me) reckons is great, but its circulation figures have been deemed too small and was therefore going to be cancelled as of three months time. I was pretty bummed about that one, as I'd only just started reading it. But there has been a temporary reprieve! DC have been (surprisingly) good enough to listen to the shouts of protest on this one, so have apparently extended its run for another five issues, hoping that the fuss will have bumped the sales figures up enough to keep producing it. As many will know, I'm really bad about actually buying the comics I like (I truly hate having hard copies lying around and cluttering up my room...), but I'm willing to change my ways for this one. Anyone else willing to chip in for a good cause and buy a copy? I can lend earlier issues if anyone wants to read a few first...

This has been your surprising and random public service announcement. Now a word from our sponsors, Hawkman and the Golden Age Flash.

My goodness. I didn't think this was that kind of blog.

Am rather disturbed by how the Flash's arm hair appears to be so thick and luxurious that it is visible on the outside of his suit...
*Fervently hopes it is merely bizarre looking shading*

Oh, come on, this has ALWAYS been that kind of blog. ;)

What's Manhunter about, and does it feature J'onn in any capacity? I wouldn't be averse to reading your back issues, since, y'know, more crack is always a good thing...

Ummm, I know I'm about two years late... but what happened to the Noodle Bowl?

Lizzu> Wow, you know, I never noticed that. Am now disturbed.

Helen> No J'onn, this is the *other* DC Manhunter. Well, *one* of the other DC Manhunters. There was the Martian Manhunter, and the two Golden Age heroes called Manhunter (there was an amusing snippet in All Star Squadron where they snarked at each other over who had rights to the name.) This Manhunter series is about something like the fifth person in this particular Manhunter legacy. Her name is Kate Spencer, she is a DA by day, vigilante by night. I find her rather an interesting and sympathetic character, generally speaking.

Also featured is a fairly strong supporting cast, including Damon-the-assistant-dude, whose boyfriend just happens to be Todd Rice, aka Obsidian of Infinity Inc, The Astounding Character Find of 1984 (orrrr possibly not.) His character was always kinda shitty and emo, frankly (this is what you get for having shadow powers unless you're Shadow Lass or the Shade, I guess...), until he went nuts and tried to destroy the world and lost his powers. He's been kinda floating in character limbo since then, until randomly popping up in Manhunter as Damon's boyfriend. This made me Very Happy, as I've always had a weird soft spot for him, and he's now cute and apparently well adjusted, which is nice.

Riketz> Ummm, it's still about? I think? It may no longer be linked from the main page, and Nee-sama doesn't really have time for updating it at the minute, but still. http://www.thenoodlebowl.com/bowl/index.html?main.html&0 should get you there.
