Fuck fuck fuckety fuck, I am so fucking sick of fucking revision.

*pulls face*

Sorry to expose you all to that random gratuitous obscenity, but I've spent the entire day revising Homer and Herodotus and very little else. I mean, yes, I love Homer, he's my favouritest author in the whole of classics and everyone in the entire world ought to read it since that would make the world a much better place, but still....meh. If I didn't have the prospect of an exam in it in about a week, I'd probably be a lot happier about the situation. Yes, I'm stressing somewhat, so sue me. I keep reminding myself that I only need to pass and I'm pretty sure I can do that, but that somehow fails to reassure me much.

Crap I'm dull at the moment. This is one of the reasons I've been cutting down on the blogging lately (well, other than the apathy, of course) - I just don't seem to be able to even think anything interesting, let alone write it down for your blogging pleasure. Thank you to all my lovely animesoc friends who have been patiently putting up with my weirdness - well, they have enough practise at it, I'm weird most of the time, but not *this* weird - and I promise that after exams I'm going to try to be a little less of a basketcase.

Well, I can try.

Oh, and I have a cold. Hence the utterly pathetic and self-pitying tone of this entry. >.< It's really not my week... Someone find me a random quiz to do, quick.

*tries to think of some vague sort of content for this entry* Oh yes - I'm glad to see I've corrupted you to the ways of Aburatsubo worship. *grins* Ahhh, camp bishies voiced by Koyasu-sama, there's nothing quite like them. I'm still working on convincing nee-sama to make a Takeo/Aburatsubo music video to the song 'If I Were Gay', since I feel it's highly necessary. 'And if I were gay we would swim and romance / But I'm not gay, so get your hand out of my pants." *falls off chair laughing* Thanks eternal go to Liz for finding that mp3 - sheer genius...

Hmmm....need more Mahou Tsukai Tai...now...

*bounce bounce bounce bounce* Wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Skids/Tybalt Skids/Tybalt Skids/Tybalt Skids/Tybalt Skids/Tybalt Skids/Tybalt Skids/Tybalt Skids/Tybalt Skids/Tybalt Skids/Tybalt Skids/Tybalt Skids/Tybalt Skids/Tybalt Skids/Tybalt Skids/Tybalt Skids/Tybalt Skids/Tybalt Skids/Tybalt Skids/Tybalt Skids/Tybalt Skids/Tybalt Skids/Tybalt Skids/Tybalt Skids/Tybalt Skids/Tybalt Skids/Tybalt Skids/Tybalt Skids/Tybalt Skids/Tybalt Skids/Tybalt !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hum. Somewhat unsurprising. I sense a theme here.

Okay, I know that everyone in the world has made one of these, but I thought I'd add to the number anyway. Nee-sama and I have finished the first version of the random yaoi pairings generator at avernus - it's in 'wandering souls', the new section for random crap. Hurrah. Go play with it and be alarmed at the very thought of OmixAlucard...

How evil are you?

*falls off chair laughing* No comment.

February 22, 2003

Awwww, dude, you have to hear this song! Makes the world a better place, I swear.

Yes, I've been avoiding work by looking for excessively random music, what's your point? If anyone out there likes the music from the 'Stress' Cowboy Bebop music video ('...and SANDFLEAS! SANDFLEAS!!!'), I've been looking for other music by the same band, which is rather helped by the fact that they are Nice Mp3 Approving People - go to www.bigego.com for more stuff by them. I liked it so much I just went and ordered the latest CD. w00t. It's also given nee-sama and I the urge to make an Utena MV at some point, since 'Prince Charming' is really crying out for it.

This commercial brought to you by Jim's Big Ego. Thank you for your attention.

Sorry about lack of constructive (or, indeed, any) bloggage lately. Truth to tell, with exams coming up my mental process most of the time consists of 'fuck fuck fuck fuck fuck fuck no no no must not panic must not panic they don't really count for anything don't worry you'll be fine fuck fuck fuck fuck fuck', and frankly that doesn't make for very interesting blog reading.

So, in other words, there's likely to be a sad lack of blogging for the next few weeks. Sorry. If you had the most intensive exams in the world coming up you'd probably feel more than a little concerned too.

Oh, and I have plot bunnies for Empire Records fanfics again. *sighs* Oh sure, write fics for a rather silly film that only about five other people in the world appear to have seen. Going to get you a long way, that is. But Lucas and Joe keep lurking in my mind and whispering how much fun it would be to toy with their psyches for a while. It's rather offputting when you're trying to revise Ovid.

The Rent obsession seems to be spreading somewhat. Which is all to the good, I think. Nice not to be the only one listening obsessively to the oddest musical I think I've yet met.

The Firebird

....well that was damned surreal.

For anyone who hasn't walked down Turl street in the last few days and thus doesn't know, this week is the Turl Street Arts Festival, which means there are many, many random-and-vaguely-arts-related events going on in the three Turl Street colleges. So yesterday I got press-ganged by a couple of people from my college into going to The Firebird - not the famous and rather lovely ballet by Stravinsky (go buy a CD, it's gorgeous), but a play loosely based on the original Russian folktale.

Well, it was...interesting. *grins* And as random a way of spending an hour or so of a Wednesday evening as I can think of. Featuring strange songs, country dancing, and a Big Camp Villain In A Big Red Cloak (TM). Every play should have one. I'm pretty sure he practised that laugh every morning for months beforehand. I was impressed.

Otherwise a quiet day spent revising Vergil. Yawn-o-rama. I don't like the Aeneid, it's no good. I know it's meant to be one of the greatest works in Western literature, and I *still* don't find it anything to write home about. Meh. I think I'll do a little more random revision, then play IRC trivia (shame, shame) and listen to Rent. Mmm, Rent music...

February 17, 2003

Dude! Running Japanese language sites through translation engines is the best!

'When you get angry, cunning character roughly becomes the alligator.'

'The seat of the ace pilot is taken in the ground run, adhesion quality feeling has vis-a-vis him.' (Bear in mind that this is about a male pilot, and that 'ground run' is the translation of one of the other male pilots' names... hmmm...)

'The bee it is noisy in the coffee.'

All taken from Gundam Seed character synopses, believe it or not. A prize for anyone who can guess who each of the characters above are...

Heh. I just got to write my essay on Why It Wasn't Pentheus' Fault *yet again*. I've written that one four times so far in different guises. I love being the only person in the world who seems to really like Pentheus. Always gives you something to write about.

And for those of you who don't have a clue what I'm writing about, go away and read the Bacchae, you uncultured swine. It's damned good.

*stretches* Mmm. Essay written, Bacchae nearly revised. Not feeling control of my life again yet and probably won't for about another three and a bit weeks, but that nice post-essay-glow feeling is helping counteract that. Now I just need to find a way to catch up on all that sleep I've been missing lately and I'll be fine. And don't tell me to go to bed earlier. That'd be *waaay* too logical.

This week, oi 'ave been mostly listening to Rent. It's fun. It may be the gayest musical in the world, and considering the competition it's up against, that really is saying something. I think I want to go see it sometime, just because Angel (AKA pretty little nice gay boy *glomps*) is a darling and it's full of La Boheme references. Which has to be of the good. I love La Boheme too, but it doesn't have neurotics living behind their cameras or people dancing on folding chairs in six inch heels. Not sure whether Rodolfo or Roger is more irritating though. It's a close-run thing.

Lost everybody. Nobody understands...

*sighs*

February 16, 2003

Well, to reiterate everything every other animesoc blogger has said, Shoujothon was a great success, even if it did largely show fluffier shows that I have much time for. If it doesn't have at least one major character death, I don't normally accept it. Still, I did get to see some rather good shows I probably would never have looked twice at at otherwise - things like Magical Users Club, which was generally a standard ecchi-boy-and-inept-girls-use-magic-to-fight-evil sort of anime, but featured Koyasu-sama in possibly the campest role I've ever seen him in. I mean, he looked like Kurama, and spent virtually every line of his screen time asking whether the lead male character would do 'forbidden things' with him, and playing with his best friend's hair. *happy dance* Camp Koyasu! Camp Koyasu! Yaaaay!! He plays too much serious at the moment with Weiss Kreuz and things, it's nice to see him back at his comedy roots.

As a result of which I'm currently nagging onee-sama to get more eps. ^_^;;;

The copious quantities of Archers I consumed may have helped matters a little. Again I worry about my increasing alcohol tolerance - I should have more effects after drinking a whole small bottle of Archers than increased silliness. *sighs* Oxford, what have you done to me? This is what you get for singing in too many choirs...

Special apologies go out to Liz for my talking an *amazing* amount of crap to her at about 4am. I blame her entirely for actually knowing what I was talking about when I babble about Blakes 7 and the Professionals. B-b-b-but.... Avon/Blake! Bodie/Doyle! So few people watch Granada Plus obsessively enough to have any idea what the fuck I talk about...

Hum. Should I try to read some more Vergil before bed? Or give in to temptation and watch the new series of 24? Ahhh, life is nothing but decisions...

Oh, and random links for the day - someone with a very good but cynical grasp of world politics and a page full of random crap. Dude.

February 15, 2003

I sometimes wonder if studying classics makes you odd. I mean, it goes without saying that most classicists *are* odd, but I'm not sure if that's a cause or an effect. But judging by my reading material today, I'm convinced it has to do *something* odd to you. So far today I've had Vergil beautifying death, gory battle descriptions that would put the average 15 year old boy writing to shame, and Catullus being typically obscene. That lot has *got* to do something weird to your psyche.

Ah well. I'm off to Shoujothon in a minute, though not before nee-sama and I go down to Tescos to buy some form of cheap alcohol - not sure how much pink and sparkles I can take without some serious mind-numbing in the form of archers. Not sure how an excess of mahou shoujo is meant to in any way improve my mental state though...

In other news, I've been having some quiet fun fic writing today, which was pleasant - it's been such a long time since I've had any time to write (well, I don't have time now, exams in two and a half weeks and all that, but never mind), and I didn't realise how much I was missing it. Gravi fic won today, so I've been writing Tohma and Sakano getting drunk, and Mika-san getting upset, which was fun. I do like Mika-san, but the show demands I'm horribly callous towards her. *shrugs* Not my fault Tohma's a cold-hearted bastard, now is it?

Update to the Tohma shrine! A new episode guide and gallery for episode 6, 'Shady Scheme' - the one where Aizawa does eeeevil things to Shuichi, the bastard. The...pretty bastard. The pretty, sympathetic bastard.

*hangs head* I hate myself...

*coughs* So...yeah. Go check it out. They take *ages* you know. And some of the captions for the gallery pictures are astoundingly twisted, though I do say so myself.

February 14, 2003

Cheerful? ON Valentine's day? Surely not...

I have that warm fuzzy glow. Kinda like heartburn.

Mmm, brain melted after the mammoth philosophy tute. Don't get me wrong, I find philosophy pretty interesting, especially with our crazy and scarily intelligent philosophy tutor, and I don't find it too amazingly difficult. But really, a two hour tute is enough to melt *anyone's* brain. Especially when the sum total of their mental activity earlier that day had been sleep and reading trashy sci-fi. Thank you, onee-sama, for lending me a book that is successfully distracting me from my really rather important revision. *scowls* But - but it's so slashy! That's not playing fair! *helpless expression*

Last night was great fun, as per usual. To echo Katy, I love animesoc people. You couldn't want to meet a more pleasant bunch of loons. Meant I didn't get to sleep until about 5.45 (get back at 5, wash hair, dry hair, tidy room....I never understand why these things seem like such a good idea at 5am), but that's not the point. Was an all round great evening, especially writing Valentines cards in the toilets at G & Ds (if you don't know, don't ask...)

Oh, and I bought sugar mice for onee-sama today. That's also a happy glow moment. Plus it's been an absolutely *gorgeous* day, and cold as anything, which is always welcome to me. If it's not below ten degrees, I don't accept it. Mmm....frostbite...

So....yeah. Happy Calliope, even if it is the feast day of Saint Hallmark. Now, shall I read Vergil, or shall I do another Gravi ep guide? Decisions, decisions....

February 12, 2003

You are the EVIL OVERLORD. Puissant and
megalomaniacal, you desire nothing less than
immortality and domination over the entire
universe, you don't care who knows, and you
would have gotten away with it if it hadn't
been for that pesky Hero. Read the Handbook
then destroy all copies of it, and perhaps your
goal will be within reach...

Which character type from the Evil Overlord's Handbook are you?
brought to you by Quizilla

Hn. Like I needed telling that. They didn't have enough oddly practical answers though - like I'd be the sort of foolish evil overlord to hang around and devise methods by which to kill my nemesis instead of just shooting him in the back! It's only a pity he's awake...

And like hell I'd get defeated at the end. These quiz makers have no ideas about Evil Personel Management. *strokes copy of 1984 and laughs demonically*

February 11, 2003

Ugh. Exam angst has been kicking my ass today, to quote Smallville. (Really shouldn't be quoting Smallville should I. Crap, just lost any cred I may ever have had. *siiiiiighs*) Probable cause is the arrival of my Mods timetable today, which is possibly the scariest document ever to arrive in my pigeonhole. Eleven exams in seven days, anyone? Mmmm, stressful. *whimpers and hides under desk*

Well, since we spent so long designing the thing, might as well post my quiz result here - because one can't have enough narcissism and self-referential jokes, can one?

You're Jane!

The scary one of the Evil Fangirls of Doom, your uncanny ability to spot seiyuu at fifty paces leaves many astounded. Grown bishounen turn and run at your approach, lest they too find themselves denizens of your legendary Yaoi Dungeon. Oh, and angst *is* an addiction, y'know. Can't have anything interfering with the world domination plans...

Which member of the OAV Committee are you?

*snickereth muchly* I love my evil chibi! Heheheheh....

Saw the character designs for Schwarz in Gluhen today. Which are....interesting. Schuldig looks femtacular, with angsty eyes and a Farrah flick, but otherwise survives pretty much unscathed (opinions are divided as to whether this is a Good Thing *ducks missiles from onee-sama*). Farf is written out, thank God. I don't know what anyone sees in the little psychopath. Ugh. Self-mutilation, self-pity and psychosis. There is no fun here. Nagi looks even more like a member of Weiss than he used to, though he seems to have acquired his own Male Hooker Chic, possibly so he and Schuldig can hang around on street corners as a matching pair. Oh, and Crawford is *so* their pimp. *snickers*

And speaking of Crawford....*sweatdrops* What *have* they done to his character design? Oiy vey. See, with the others they really didn't need to change them that much, since Schuldig was changed from Tsuchiya-sensei's original designs anyway, and Nagi they just needed to age a bit. But Crawford-san was lifted almost straight from the manga into the anime. With the result that the new look is....well, it's certainly dramatic, I'll give it that. As nee-sama put it, 'he looks like the bastard offspring of Treize and Muraki'.

(Which led into a Very Disturbing conversation about male pregnancy fics, and which of them would be the mummy... I mean, Treize is probably the more obvious uke, as the number of 6x13 fics out there will prove. But Treize tends to be uke when he's in vulnerable mode, and Muraki's methods aren't subtle enough to get Treize vulnerable. Nee-sama suggested Muraki might try to get pregnant on purpose in the hope of rousing Tsuzuki's maternal instincts, and chose Treize as the father because he has such good genes... Now I'm trying to avoid writing the fic - Muraki getting hormonal and Treize doing diversionary DIY, building himself kit mobile suits and lusting after the pretty blond gardener.)

(And just imagine what the kid would be like! I mean, Mariemeia was bad enough, but imagine her with Muraki's ruthlessness instead of Treize's scruples! Never mind the world, the *universe* would tremble!)

But in any case, Crawford-san's new design (complete with monacle and Cravat Of World Domination TM) makes him look rather like a character on the run from Count Cain. I can't quite decide if I like it or not. I just hope that the crazy look he has in that screencap is just a fluke, not a result of them transfusing Farf's personality into poor hapless Brad-chan...

February 10, 2003

I have an Evil Idea

In other words, the fangirls of doom are planning another of their patented evil quizzes. This one may well beat all previous records for offending people in the society. We're rather looking forward to it. At any rate, it was damn good fun to plan just now in a cafe while I was meant to be reading Ovid and nee-sama was meant to be working in the Economics library. I've now left her there with the chibi design bunnies making her working life a misery. Ahahahaha. Expect to see the results on the site soon...

Hmm. The two tutes this morning went quite well, I think, especially since I got to babble a lot about Homer, and I *love* babbling about Homer. I even knew a quotation that my tutor didn't know, which made me very proud. Of course, nee-sama managed to burst that particular bubble by commenting 'was the quote about Patroclus?' '....maybe.' So I have a certain bias when it comes to Homeric characters. So sue me. *sticks tongue out*

Oh, and my habitual clutziness has come back with a vengeance, since I managed to knock over and break a mug at 1.30am today and slice my finger open on the sharp edges. *puts on pathetic face* My finger hurts. There was quite a fun amount of blood though, that was cool...

...occasionally I'm frightening and strange.

Now, I could do the 'which Hellsing character are you' quiz from Katy's blog, but I have a sneaking suspicion that I'd just falsify the answers so I'd get Integra-sama. Eheh. Time for Ovid and elegy, methinks...

February 09, 2003

*snirk*

Monou Fuuma
Formerly kind and a good friend, you've become a rather twisted person, with a love for blood and tears. But that's okay, because you're far more interesting, and your sadistic personality leads to loads of yaoi fun. You've also got a soft side, and occasionally decide to show it. Being able to sense people's wishes comes in handy too. You're generally pretty easy going, despite being a very obvious teenage sadist.

Take the "Which Dragon Of Earth Are You!" test!
by Maduin & Kira
*snickers* Okay, so I may have cheated a *leeeetle* bit to get that one. Ah, sue me. Fuuma's answers were coolest. Who wants to be wussy old Kusanagi anyway? It was a toss up between Fuuma and Sei-chan, but there were too many mooning-after-Subaru answers for my taste. Less mooning, more random destruction, that's my motto.

More random pieces of obscenity from the Pusey house brigade. I swear, we go to church more often than anyone in the *world*, and they are the smuttiest minded people I have *ever* met. Particular gems of wisdom include, on a young and particularly gay acquaintance, 'I think he's just very young. Give him a few years and he'll have his feet on the ground. Instead of round his ears.' *twitch* *twitch* It's a wonder we haven't got banned from more pubs in Oxford than the three on our current list. Particularly when D is shouting 'Labia!' at the top of his voice. *hides under pub table* Ohhhhh dear. Anyone wants a selection of the smuttiest table conversation you've ever heard, come to the Eagle and Child at about 12.30 on a Sunday. We'll be the ones with a clear circle of tables around us and all the waiting staff glowering at us.

Oh, and Douglas Hurd was at high table this evening. *shrugs* Well, he was.

February 08, 2003

Wheee! Spangly new bloggage! Thanks as ever to Tasha onee-sama, who did the lovely graphics and worked out how to use moveable type and other spangly things. Isn't the picture *gorgeous*? To tie in with my current Sandman minor obsession, it's Dream, but from the Yoshitaka Amano sidestory 'The Dream Hunters' rather than the normal comics. Which means it has prettier artwork :)

Oh, and in case you're wondering what the hell the little comments below are about, they're both lines by Delirium, Dream's little sister, at various points in the comic. No, they don't make any sense. No, they're not meant to. If you were the personification of delirium I don't think you'd make much sense either. She talks in multicoloured bubbles and occasionally turns into shoals of exotic fish, each of which sings a different song. I *like* Delirium.

And I could babble for a little bit here about how much I love Dream (*huggles Lord Morpheus*), but I think that's already pretty much a given. So - welcome to my new blog, hope you enjoy your stay.
