'Lying in bed would be an altogether perfect and supreme experience, if only one had a coloured pencil long enough to draw on the ceiling.' - G K Chesterton: Trifles

30 Dec 2005 - What's that, Lassie? I haven't updated my website for months? *coughs* Having finally got my act together, the entry for Kester the Jester has been brought up to date in Legend and Reality > Modern Jesters, and a new entry has been added to that section for the National Guild of Jesters, who really should be represented here, don't you think? A new entry for Mathurine, female jester to French kings in the 16th century, and one for Archie Armstrong, jester to James I, have been added to Legend and Reality > Historical Jesters > Europe. Some new pics added to Jester Images, including some more of Marty Edmunds' beautiful jester banners, and some new pics in the Media > RPG section courtesy of Russell Stone, without whom that section wouldn't exist at all... I've edited the text of the 'Cap and Bells' poem by Yeats in Literature>Poetry to the original (I didn't realise I had a later version up) and the Links page has been overhauled with some new entries in Links>Entertainers.
13 Mar 2005 - A tasteful selection of the highest-quality updates brought to you by yours truly. The Fool's Tale by Nicole Galland is a new addition to the bibliography in Books > Fiction, as is The Queen's Fool by Philippa Gregory, plus a review by me. The wonderful Russell sent me a hilarious New Yorker cartoon which I've included in Jester Central > Miscellany. I've updated the tale of the English 'state jester' in Legend and Reality > Modern Jesters. And I finally got around to writing a couple of short articles of my own - they're available in Jester Central > Research.
3 Jan 2005 - For some reason this Christmas has been full of lovely people recommending jester literature and literary jesters for my list! They've all been added: in Literature > Books, 'Dizzy From Fools' and 'Fools, Clowns and Jesters' sent by Kelly Hause, in the fiction and non-fiction sections respectively; 'The Sufis' suggested by Lynette Jester (really her name! Is that or is it not the best name in the world? :-) ) in non-fiction, as well as 'The Jester's Sword', which I am delighted to say is out of copyright so I've put the whole short story up in Literature > Extracts. Plus Polish jester name 'blazen' kindly supplied by Karol, and Nan Jester found the artist behind one of my gallery pics who I've been trying to trace for ages, so I've been able to credit her at last. *deep breath* Aaaaand, two new entries for Arthurian jesters in Legend and Reality > Europe, thankyou to Mimi Rooney. I've still got lots to do update-wise, so there should be another one pretty soon. So much material... :-o
